Welcome to Wellness Feast! My name is Nicole, and I'm here to help you reclaim your health, your life and your joy. I'm in my 50s, and I can honestly say I've never been healthier or happier. Whatever age you are, I want you to be able to say the same thing.
A little background . . . I practiced corporate law for nearly ten years in New York before stepping out of the rat race to focus on raising my three children down here in the gorgeous Commonwealth of Virginia. After one of my children was born with asthma and severe food allergies, I learned everything I could about keeping my family healthy. When I realized how many people were dealing with similar issues, I started a custom bakery for people with dietary restrictions and food allergies. You can read more about Cole's Moveable Feast (and find allergy-free dessert recipes, like the one featured on Good Day DC) here.
Over the last 18 years I've read everything I could get my hands on about nutrition, the immune system, the mind-body connection, the effects of stress on our health, our food's effects on the "five As" (asthma, allergies, autism, ADHD and anxiety), disease treatment and prevention, and the economics and politics behind our nation's approach to food production, medical treatment and healthcare.
I also believe in walking a spiritual path, and I strive every day to educate myself and engage in spiritual practices that help me connect with my true self and the world around me. Even though I've always been a bit of a wellness junkie (and thought I knew everything about "healthy living"), several experiences in my own life, including breast cancer, have taught me invaluable lessons about transformation and personal growth, nourishment, community, disease management, balance, mindfulness, forgiveness and compassion. It has been a humbling journey, and I felt called to share what I've learned with others who are pursuing their own wellness & life goals, whatever they may be. That's what led me to educate myself further and become certified as a health coach and life coach. I am a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I am also a Precision Nutritioncertified nutrition coach, and a personal trainer certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
I am a whole systems coach, so if you're looking for a diet program or strict ideology, I'm not your girl. In fact, I want you to declare freedom from diet culture, fitness fads and pop psychology. I believe:
~ You already know how to live a meaningful and healthy life. ~ Nourishment isn't just about food. ~ Small changes lead to big results. ~ One size doesn't fit all. ~ A beautiful life is your birthright. ~ There's always more to learn. ~ Gratitude and grace are the building blocks of a joyful life. ~ We must serve our communities and help the undernourished and marginalized. See some examples under Praise, Press & More. ~ We are stewards of this earth and can contribute to a healthier, happier planet.
